Schröder & Schÿler is one of Bordeaux’s oldest and most esteemed wine merchant houses, established in 1739 by German merchants on the Chartrons quay, a historic hub for wine trade in the city. With over 280 years of continuous family ownership, the company is currently led by Yann Schÿler, representing the eighth generation of the family.
Legacy and Expertise
Initially involved in trading various goods like spices and sugar, Schröder & Schÿler shifted focus to wine by the late 18th century. Their deep-rooted presence in Bordeaux has allowed them to develop extensive expertise in sourcing and distributing a wide range of wines, from prestigious Grands Crus to selections from small châteaux. Château Kirwan
Beyond their merchant activities, the Schÿler family owns Château Kirwan, a Margaux estate classified as a Third Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. Acquired in 1925, the château has been under the family’s stewardship for generations, with significant investments made to enhance its vineyards and winemaking facilities. Today, Château Kirwan is celebrated for producing wines that reflect the elegance and complexity characteristic of the Margaux appellation .

Schröder & Schÿler exports approximately 75% of its annual production of 4 million bottles to over 80 countries, with a notable presence in Asia.
